Biography

Phil, known to many as “Bear”, was born and raised in Indianapolis. He graduated from Warren Central High School, where he excelled in football and wrestling, and attended Butler University.

Phil retired from Allison Transmission in 2011. During his 35 years with Allison/Rolls Royce, he worked on the production line and then was accepted into the skilled trades program. After completing his apprenticeship, he finished his career at Plant #3 in Speedway as a journeyman tinsmith.

He married Lady Connie in May 1983, and has three daughters (Jennifer Herring, Tracy Whisner, and Colleen Mitchell). He has been blessed with five wonderful grandchildren (three girls, two boys) and enjoys attending their various events and activities.

Phil is an avid Colts fan and enjoys attending games with Connie. He also enjoys golf and spending time with family. He is a member of Southport United Methodist Church in Indianapolis.
