Personal History
Stephen Kroman was born on May 25, 1945, in Florida and grew up in New York City. He and his wife, Margaret, now residents of Seymour, are the parents of 4 grown children and 2 grandsons. Stephen graduated from Long Island University in New York City with post-graduate studies in Marine Biology then transferred to Business and Financial management in San Jose, California. He is a retired Business and Financial Management Consultant having owned his own business for over 30 years at Kroman Management Assoc., A Corp. He continues to consult with the person who purchased his business back in California.
While attending College he was drafted into the Army in 1967 and discharged from the Army in 1969 after serving thirteen months in Viet Nam. He retained his rank of Sergeant E5 despite such a short time in grade due to winning “Soldier of the Month” for all of Viet Nam, and received the Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster for actions during the TeT Offensive.
His hobbies include camping, shooting sports, and photography. He learned to snow ski at a late age and enjoyed skiing until a knee injury brought it to an end.

Masonic History

Stephen was raised a Master Mason in April 2002 and became a life endowed member of Jackson Lodge No. 146 in 2005. In 2008 he served as Worshipful Master of Jackson Lodge during which he and his Lodge achieved the Grand Master’s Award with High Distinction. He is a member of all three York Rite Bodies, having taken the Degrees in New Albany in 2002. He served as Eminent Commander at No 56 for two years in 2011 and 2012 and as High Priest for Chapter No 85 in 2014 for the Seymour York Rite prior its merging with Columbus York Rite in 2015. Stephen served as Ill Master of the Columbus Council No 54 in 2017. He then served as Secretary/Recorder for the Columbus Chapter and Commandery and in 2018 serves as Secretary/Recorder/Recorder for all three Bodies. He is a member of the Indianapolis Valley of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite and the Indianapolis Murat Shrine. Initiated into Seymour Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in 2002, he served as Worthy Patron in 2006. In November 2013 he was inducted into the St. Bernard de Clairvaux Council No. 256 of the Allied Masonic Degrees and is currently Sr Deacon. In 2015, Stephen was recommended for membership in the Royal Order of Scotland, was accepted and received the Degrees of the Royal Order on September 3, 2015.
In 2009-10 Stephen served as Grand Chaplain of the Grand Chapter R.A.M. of the State of Indiana for MEPGHP Stephen Oathout . He served as the Grand Marshal of the Grand Lodge of Indiana during 2012-13 for MW Brother George A. Ingles, Jr. PGM, and served as the Area Representative for Area 34 from 2010 until May 2015 when he resigned his appointment to let another Brother perform these duties of Area Representative. He served for a year and a half on the IMH Board and currently serves as the Secretary-Treasurer of the Masonic Heritage Foundation Board for Schofield House since 2013 and continues to receive appointments to this Board. On November 12, 2016, by invitation, Stephen received the Degrees from the York Rite College of Corydon No 207 and is now a Knight of York. On January 27, 2018, by invitation of

the Robert A. Woods Priory No 62 Stephen became a member and received his Knights of the York Cross of Honor (KYCH).
Stephen served as the Grand Photographer for MW Brother Mark A. Genung, PGM, during the 2013-14 term and during the Tuesday evening banquet of the Annual Communication in May 2014 he was awarded the Order of Service to Masonry (OSM). Stephen received another appointment as Grand Photographer for MW Brother Daniel A. Barenie for 2014-15. Grand Master Barenie presented Stephen with the GM's Meritorious Award with Distinction at the Annual Communication in May 2015. Grand Master William A. Reiners appointed Stephen as his Photographer for 2015-16 term along with appointments to the Executive Committee Program as Chairman, The Bluebook Committee, and reappointed to the Masonic Heritage Foundation Board. Stephen also served as Special Deputy assigned to Lodges that require special Assistance.
In May 2016 MW Brother Carey Carter continued Stephen's appointment as Photographer for the Grand Lodge and also appointed him State Chairman of the Executive Committee Program and the newly formed Internet Inquiry Committees where he receives the contacts that come from the Grand Lodge website and sends them to appropriate Lodges around the State utilizing five area Coordinators to place these contacts. MW Brother Rodney Mann continued Stephen's appointment as Photographer for the Grand Lodge and retained him on all previous committees and added him to the Charters and Dispensations committee. MW Brother Carl Culmann continued Stephen's appointment as Grand Photographer during his Grand Master's Year 2018-2019 and he remains on the same Committees as previously mentioned.
For the last three years Stephen has led the Treasurer's Workshops that are presented around the State in conjunction with the Secretary's Workshops led by our Grand Secretary. During this process Stephen has helped many Lodges move from a manual Bookkeeping system to an Excel spreadsheet and eventually computerize their bookkeeping.
Having met our Current Grand Commander, Terry Kehrer, while he serving as Grand Marshal in 2012-13, Companion SK Terry asked Stephen to serve as his aide during the 2017-2018 year and continue as his aide for his Grand Commander year 2018-19 as well as to become his Grand Prelate.
